A traditional green split pea soup inspired by the recipe Angela Appleton's gramma made for years. This is as close as it gets to homemade without starting with the ham bone. Enjoy prepared according to instructions, or add rinsed (to reduce sodium) chopped ham for a nice addition.
To Prepare:
In a pot, mix contents of package with 7 cups water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer on medium low for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
Serves 5.

Green split peas, onion, m.s.g.-free chicken stock (salt, dextrose, corn flour, chicken fat (includes rosemary extract), dehydrated cane molasses (includes color), onions, garlic, spices, sugar, corn syrup solids, artificial colour including tartrazine, flavour (includes celery)), bay leaves.
